Sonchus hierrensis

Hierro Sow thistle

5 seeds

Another of the tree dandelions.  This one is mainly found on the cliff edges and volcanic slopes of El Hierro and La Palma, where it can grow to over 3m tall.  We mainly grow tree dandelions for their foliage and this is another one with attractive rosettes of deeply lobed foliage.  Produces clusters of bright yellow flowers in spring.  Best to be kept frost free overwinter, although in milder microclimates it can be left outdoors and can take light frosts, regrowing from the base in spring.
