Schefflera enneaphylla

From higher altitudes in parts of South-east Asia and India, an attractive Schefflera with palmate leaves on dark purplish stems.  Prefers a shady, moist humus rich spot.  Hardy in milder microclimates.

For sowing, seeds must be removed from the berries.  Soak the berries in warm water for a few minutes, and then place the berries on some kitchen towel, and squeeze the berries, so that the seeds pop out.  Rinse the seeds so no remnants of the berries remain and sow in a sterile seed compost lightly covering with vermiculite.  Keep moist but not wet at around 20C to 25C.
