From the coastal forests of the North Island of New Zealand, this Pseudopanax has leathery glossy palmate leaves with 3 to 5 leaflets. Expect some variability in leaf shape from seed grown plants. Prefers partial shade to a sunny spot in well drained humus rich soil. Will take frosts down to around- 5C when mature - protect from frosts when smaller.
