A very different Phytolacca than those usually grown in the UK! From South America, it forms a distinctly large tree in it's native habitat. The trunk is spongy reflecting it's herbaceous ancestry and stores vast volumes of water. Grown in the UK mainly for it's attractive foliage - leaves are dark green and glossy with a pink midrib. Also makes a good choice for a bonsai. Needs to be kept frost free during the colder months.

Germination instructions

Soak seeds for 24hrs and then sow on a good quality seed compost and cover with vermiculite/grit. Requires a period of cooler temperatures (minimum of 4 weeks) before increasing temperature to 18C to 25C. ALL PARTS OF PLANT POISONOUS.
