From the Himalayas, where it is found at altitudes over 1500m, this is one of the less common date palms.  It is non-clustering and looks similar to a smaller version of P. canariensis.  Rarely grown in the UK at the moment, it should be well suited to many areas.  Protect during the winter when small.
