From the Himalayas, a particularly vigorous and quick growing form of M. balbisiana which is one of the ancestors of the cultivated bananas. It can grow to over 4.5m tall in its native habitat with leaves up up 2.5m long and 60cm wide. Not reliably frost hardy, but relatively cold tolerant, so not too tricky to overwinter under cover in the UK.
