From the grasslands and hillsides of South Africa, another member of the Melianthus family - this one growing to around 1.5m. It has deeply serrated and textured leaves and nectar-rich scarlet flowers. Prefers a sheltered sunny well drained spot. Will take the odd light frost when mature with a mulch. Rarely available in the UK.
