From South America, the (almost) hardy tapioca plant. One of the very best plants for a jungle garden, with truly spectacular foliage. Germination can be quite tricky and erratic. Plants will take a bit of frost when a good size, but haven't proved to be reliably hardy for us, so best to bring undercover for the winter unless in a warm almost frost free location.

From South America, the (almost) hardy tapioca plant. One of the very best plants for a jungle garden, with truly spectacular foliage. Germination can be quite tricky and erratic. Plants will take a bit of frost when a good size, but haven't proved to be reliably hardy for us, so best to bring undercover for the winter unless in a warm almost frost free location.

Germination instructions

Soak for 24 hours and then sow in a good quality seed compost and cover with vermiculite/grit. Keep at 22C to 26C. Germination 3 weeks to 6 months plus - can be very erratic. Prone to damping off so give plenty of air after germinating.
