From the volcanic Round Island, to the east of Madagascar where it is critically endangered, the Botte Palm has a swollen bottle like trunk.  Requires a bright warm spot indoors with a minimum temperature of 14C.  

Soak seeds in warm water for 48 hours and then sow on a free draining mix, covering the seeds with vermiculite.  Keep moist but not wet at around 28C to 32C.  Germination can be erratic at 3+ months.
