Furcraea macdougalii

A magnificent, trunk forming succulent from Mexico growing to over 4m in its native habitat but smaller in the UK.  It forms an imposing, upright rosette of stiff, glaucous blue-green leaves, each with hooked teeth along the margins. Best grown as a container plant in a sunny sheltered spot during the summer months.  In milder microclimates which only suffer the odd light frost now and again, it could be planted out in a well drained spot and protected from excess rain during the winter months.
