Eucalyptus rubida is a beautiful tree, taking frosts to around minus 12°C when mature with just a few burnt leaves. The new growth in spring has a lovely lilac tint and as the weather cools down the older leaves can take on quite a reddish hue. The young deep red stems are also quite glossy which adds to the overall attraction.

The new growth in spring has a lovely lilac tint and as the weather cools down the older leaves can take on quite a reddish hue. The young deep red stems are also quite glossy which adds to the overall attraction.

Germination instructions

Sow seed in a good quality sterile seed compost and lightly cover with vermiculite - seeds need light to germinate. Keep moist but not wet at around 20C to 25C. Germination erratic at 2 weeks to 3 months.
