An heirloom variety from the Andes, Mountain Morado produces deep purple, antioxidant-rich kernels with a delicious, creamy texture. This is a short-season variety, so is well suited to cooler parts of the UK. A good choice for roasting or grinding into traditional flour.

Germination instructions

Soak seeds for 24 hours and then sow in a sterile seed compost covering with vermiculite/grit. Keep at around 25C. Germination in 1 to 2 weeks. Transfer to larger pots if needed before planting out after all risk of frost has passed.
