Rhopalostylis sapida

From New Zealand, a stunning 'shuttlecock' style palm with stiff upright feathery fronds and a green crownshaft.  Well suited to milder coastal microclimates in the UK, preferring a moist humus rich sheltered spot in partial shade.  Will only take a light frost when larger so protect from frosts in the early years.

Soak the seeds in water for 24hrs and then sow in a sterile compost, covering with vermiculite.  Keep compost moist but not wet.  Place in a shady spot at around 20C to 25C.  Germination typically takes between 2 months and 12 months.
